Villa Michelangelo, Italy, Tuscany, Province of Siena, Siena, 15 Bedrooms, Private Pool, Air Conditionig
Villa Michelangelo is located sixteen miles south of Siena. Set on a secluded hilltop, Villa is a unique property that has just been meticulously renovated and restored. It has immaculate and extensive private grounds and offers a variety of outdoor activities, including swimming, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
The owner has a degree in anthropology and is a qualified herbalist, for the last decade he has been offering a range of customized, high-range culinary and riding experiences in this wooded area of Tuscany. The Villa brings together a lifetime of passions and hobbies: trails for hiking and horseback riding (The owner has a farm with thirty horses just two miles from the Villa), beehives, a working farm with pigs, cows and sheep and an organic garden. From Villa Michelangelo not a single road or telegraph pole is visible. There is no light pollution and no traffic noise, however distant.
THE ROOMS:
The villa is actually a 13th-century hamlet made up of four interconnected buildings that have been fully renovated to create twelve separate suites, furnished in elegant, cheerful Tuscan fabrics. Some rooms have fireplaces and kitchenettes, providing each guest with a sense of cosiness and independence; all rooms have flat-screen televisions. Most of the bathrooms have tubs, although some have showers. The villa is able to accommodate twenty-four adults in comfort.
THE COMMON AREAS:
The big communal kitchen is ideally suited to a large group of people cooking together and perfect for cooking lessons. It’s also a pleasant place to enjoy a glass of wine while our chef prepares lunch or dinner. The formal dining-room seats twenty-five and if necessary there is space for extra tables to be set up in adjoining rooms. The bar, which is also used as a breakfast room, looks out onto the gardens and swimming-pool and is a wonderful place to watch the mist burn off in the morning while enjoying a cappuccino and a pastry. In addition, there is a light and airy yoga room, which can also be turned into a meeting-room for conferences.
THE GROUNDS:
The stunning grounds surrounding the Villa are carefully tended and laid out in a style typical of the ancient Romans. Just outside the house there is a wood-burning pizza oven and an enormous brick-paved patio with seating for fifty. Nearby, there is a traditional Roman garden and a travertine fountain. About 100 meters from the house, you’ll find an infinity swimming pool set in a simply yet dramatically landscaped Japanese rock garden and a large sauna that can be used all year round.
Guests can also explore the groves of ancient cork trees, the fish ponds, the organic vegetable gardens and an astronomical observatory.
